Reliving old glory days inspired by life on-and-off the field, Ralph Lauren is resurrecting their Stadium collection and dying it in indigo.

First released back in 1992, Ralph Lauren’s Stadium Collection was a tribute to the spirit of sport and camaraderie in competition that surrounded that year’s Summer Olympics in Barcelona. Conceived with a nostalgic nod to athletic wear of the 1920’s and 1930’s, numerals bearing the label’s “born on” dates were placed front-and-center like the bib numbers of registered athletes, while additional branding appeared in a multitude of patches, like the P-Wing and USA flag shield, that were sewn onto each garment.

Over time, the pieces from the initial release became sought after collectables fetching top dollar in vintage resale markets and leaving fashion fans of the bygone era wanting more.

This season, Polo Ralph Lauren is giving the people what they want and reviving the Stadium collection. Inspired by the original run, items have been pulled from the archives and redressed in Indigo. While reminiscent of its initial release, the blue redo gives each item a fresh feel that straddles the line of retro and modern.  From the cloudy stone-washed look of the pullover jacket, boonie hat and P-Wing fleece sweatshirt, to the darker dye and more consistently colored windbreaker, tear-away pants and long-billed hat, the special capsule gives each piece an inherent denim-like aesthetic, rendering it even closer in line with the Americana-inspired heritage stylings that have become synonymous with Ralph Lauren’s designs.

While the collection’s look has an undeniably denim demeanor, the primarily cotton/nylon construction keeps the garments lightweight and performance-ready. Ultimately, it’s this disparity between look and feel that makes this collection the perfect combination of activewear and streetwear.

Reinvigorated for Fall 2019 with an indigo twist, this limited-edition piece is based on an original jacket and features iconic graphics, including the signature P-Wing logo.
